New Season

You wouldn't guess it's spring by the weather. It's been raining and snowing in shifts out there.
Kent and Kay just went and picked up the equipment for Kay's new sport, lacrosse. Not as expensive as hockey, but it's getting close. She is excited about it and it keeps her moving.
We are learning the how to's to the game by watching UNC and Duke play on youtube.

I have started another so simple sock garden sock, but with the zauberball. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/DarkestBlaze/so-simple-silk-garden-2
I love this pattern. It works so well with color changing yarn.

Callie thinks she is one of the kids. She decided to check out all the plastic eggs for treats yesterday morning, before waking us up to take her out.

I put another 3 cups of chickpeas to soak. I don't know what I will use them for. I might try the roasting again. The last time they were too hard (I did burn a few) and the coating was not good. Will try a ranch coating one of these times. I REALLY want the kids to eat these as I have a lot of them and they are good for them.

I was looking at the digital picture frame on my dresser, thinking that I should take it out of the box at some point. I don't have many pictures to load onto it. I need to take more. Maybe I should have a few kid pictures and then a weeping angel, a few more kid pictures and then a funny meme.

Weekend slacker

My oldest baby is 21 today. I can't believe it! I wish I could wax poetic about all the time that has passed and all but my memory is shot today. I just can't.
Saturday, instead of walking, we took the younger kids to look at the house. They love it. I love it. Kent is very nervous. I think we can do it. It will be hard for a while, but I think we can.
I made a red velvet cake for the oldest... I cheated a little...

Red Velvet Redux

Ingredients:

1 Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix
1 box instant white chocolate (hard to find) or chocolate instant pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions:

Hand mix all ingredients until incorporated and then mix on medium with a hand mixer for 1:30 to 2:00 minutes. Do not overbeat, as it will make the cake tough. Bake at 325 until a toothpick comes out clean, usually about 34-45 mins

It was fantastic. The cream cheese frosting was from a can... I need to learn how to make homemade frosting.

Sunday I took the younger two to go camping with family. I miss them. The oldest is going drinking tonight so Kent and I have time alone! Time to go!

TGIF

Yesterday, we walked. The dog has realized that chasing frogs is fun. I, however, don't like being dragged into the woods after a frog.
We put $1,000.00 earnest money down on the house! I am so excited!
I have torn apart my bedroom to find my size 7 dpns and I can't find them! I need them to knit hats, mittens and boobies!
I guess I am going to have to buy another set. Sigh...

And on the second day...

Today we hadbad news.... We are going to spend 200K ... ON OUR NEW HOUSE! HELL YEAH!!!
We have to find 7K for the down payment in the next month. We CANT lose this place!

Oh... and I walked. We found 5 fish on top of the bridge that we kicked into the river. Upon closer inspection we found a flat fish too. That stayed on top.
